If you haven't tried Mystery Google, you're missing out. For the uninitiated; Mystery Google is a version of Google that, when you submit a search, gives you the results of the search submitted by the person before you. A lot of people submit a search such as 'dance like a taco' or 'call NPA-NXX-XXXX and sing us a song.' These same people apparently post their Mystery Google Mission results to MLIA. I think that's kind of awesome, and I'm sad that apparently a couple of people are ruining it for everybody else by using it for prank calls and/or random hookups.

HERE IS MY MYSTERY GOOGLE MISSION STORY:

Tonight on Mystery Google I was given a phone number and told to call and leave a message singing my favorite Britney Spears song. I'm from Canada, and the number was an Alabama area code. I called anyway, and sang 'Womanizer.' International call? 4 cents a minute. Random hysterical entertainment? Priceless.

This is the kind of thing I get up to when I spend time with the Muse and we run out of baby clothes to sort.
These soups are both vegetarian and gluten-free. Soup #1 is vegan, and soup #2 is vegan if you leave out the cheese. They're also cheap (always a bonus in this economy), easy to make, and take advantage of fresh fall veggies, which are oft-ignored and maligned, and should be from local growers at your grocery store this time of year. Or, since a grocery store is not the only or even the best place to buy veggies, you might want to check out your local farmer's market or something.

THIS WAY, FLIST! SHINY THINGS, SHINY THINGS! )
I was looking something up on Wikipedia yesterday, as you do...and somehow I lost three hours of my LIFE. How I got from 'Bora Bora' to learning about genetics and evolution, I could not tell you. But something interesting that I found...

The Green Beard Effect. Dean is like Green Beard Altruism PERSONIFIED. Ensuring that his family continues to live (and therefore procreate) AT THE EXPENSE OF HIS OWN LINE CONTINUING. This smells vaguely like a story idea. I will have to let the knowledge percolate.
The morning after partying is very boring if you don't get hangovers. Not that I would prefer the alternative! It's just, everyone else is sleeping, or moaning in pain and having morning-after regrets...and I'm awake and want to, like, do stuff! And the only one who's down with that is the baby.

Which is, obviously, why the Muse got me to spend the night...so she can have her hangover in peace. LOL.
I'm starting a meme, flist! Tell me about what brightens your day. Here's mine in no particular order...

1. [livejournal.com profile] misskittye. She's adorable and awesome. Go worship her.

2. The dirty filthy awesomeness of Nautibitz's Fic.

3. Homemade guacamole.

4. Red wine and cigarettes on a just-the-right-temperature August night. Vices, mmmm.

5. My parents. Often seen in conjunction with #4.

6. Chuzzle.

7. The Beatles.

8. Living on the ocean in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Oh Canada, I could not love you any more than I do!

9. someecards.

10. Nevil Shute's A Town Like Alice. I could read this book over and over again!

Spent the evening with my darling much-adored parents, a.k.a. my mom and stepdad, rockin' out to Grateful Dead and The Doors, Arlo Guthrie and Zeppelin and The Eagles. Because my parents are aging hippies, and entirely awesome, and when we hang out we listen to classic rock and blues and smoke up and drink wine and dance around like dorks and stay up entirely too late. You can see why they are much-adored. To my bandom and JoBros new friends, this is the kind of music I normally listen to, so you can see why I fought those fandoms tooth and nail. To my SPN friends, you see why I adore that fandom so completely. But yes, having fun. Love you all. I didn't get the writing I'd had planned finished, but I did have a helluva lot of fun. See you in the morning, hopefully with new fic. ♥ ♥ ♥
You put on a pair of rubber gloves. Then over top of those, you put on a pair of exfoliating gloves:

These things. Use whatever cleaning solution you like and scrub away with your palms; you can use your fingers to get in little crevicey bits. Works about 20 million times better than a scrub brush; also not as hard on the wrists. And cheap! You can get these gloves at dollar stores.
For the past two weeks, I've been cat-sitting at my Grandmother's house (in the...well, it's not really a suburb so much as it's an acreage outside of town) while she's in Hawaii. And the awesome thing about my Gramma's house (besides the jacuzzi tub, and the unsecured high-speed internet from the neighbours, and the Tier 5 cable TV) is The Chair. After her knee replacement, she got a stair chair, a motorized chair on a ramp that goes up the stairs so she doesn't have to. And most of the time, I take the stairs. But when your cousin down the road gets you drunk? It's awesome, because for people who haven't had a knee replacement? This is a ride. Uuup and dooowwwnn, uuuppp, and downwwnn. AAAHHHAAHAHAHAHA!

Prawns! Prawns in garlic butter. It's amazing the things you can find in a Gramma's freezer. I ♥ catsitting. OM NOM NOM.
As a Canadian, I wanted to see how I stack up on the Foodie's Canadian 100 (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mutelorelei). I've eaten everything in bold; I commented on all of it because I'm verbose like that.

New show on the CW. I know a lot of people are flailing about them putting this show on the same night as SPN, and it's a dumb concept, etc etc, but, well. I have been a fan of this book series since I was about eleven, and if they do it even halfway decent, I will be watching it. So there. *crosses arms*

How did I not know about this? It's like going to a mall where everything is FREE. Copyright infringement blah blah whatever. FREE! This site has everything from books on ancient egypt to all four Twilight novels to music to software. Once again, all for the very reasonable price of zero dollars. If they had DVDs my life would be complete.

ETA: They also have a huge games section. My only issues are that rapidshare likes to taunt me (still 50 seconds! Bastards.) and that a lot of the files are compressed, so people, you'll need WinRAR or something similar.
