Title: Imprint

Summary: In a world where love at first sight is a documented scientific phenomenon, and potentially lethal, Jared and Jensen still meet for the first time when they've both been chosen for Supernatural; things just go a little differently after that.

Pairing: J2

Rating: R, that's right, no porn in this one, guys! *hides from flist*

Disclaimer: Like, seriously? This is 5000000% made up. I promise.

Warnings: Mentions of childhood sexual abuse. It takes place prior to the fic and there are no flashbacks or graphic description.

Author's Notes and Thank Yous: This is kind of a Frankenstein mishmash of imprinting from the Twilight series, and real actual love at first sight, and, like, fantasy romance novel soul mate bonds. Plus some medical-type stuff. Also, I am aware that my updates for the Near You Always 'verse are a billion years overdue. Sorry. It's just that you go on a little hiatus and all of a sudden you are no longer writing fiction. WTF! Extended notes on this 'verse and the insanity that is my brain can be found in the Special Features I will put up sometime this week. Beta by [livejournal.com profile] vindictive87, who was with me from the very beginning of this monster, and with thanks to my BFF extraordinaire comma Esquire, the Muse, who gave this a last look-see when [livejournal.com profile] vindictive87 wasn't able to get the final draft beta'd and back to me in time. Also, hugs and chocolate to my flisty darling [livejournal.com profile] justthismorning, who made my mock-Wikipedia article on Imprinting look like an actual Wikipedia article (the girl's got skills!) and [livejournal.com profile] bloodquartz, who made my gorgeous banner, as well as a ton of other beautiful art that I will probably spend the rest of the week drooling over.

Art: The gorgeous art from [livejournal.com profile] bloodquartz is over here. Go look at it and tell her how awesome it is!

My BigBang fic is kicking my ass. I'm at 18k, and I'm just really, really sick of writing it at this point. So I'm ignoring it in favor of replying to comments, since I've been really slack in that department lately. My excuse? For a while there, I could write BigBang and still churn out the occasional new fic and reply to comments if I was a bad bad lurker and never commented on anyone else's fic, or I could write BigBang and still churn out the occasional new fic and leave thoughtful, specific comments on the fics I read, instead of lurking or leaving a comment comprised entirely of keymashing. So if you get a bunch of replies to comments you left me in JANUARY and you're all, WTF? that's why.

So I hit 14,000 on my bigbang. I HAVEN'T EVEN GOT TO THE SEX, WTH? Five weeks left, so I'm kind of panicking a little lot. Have decided to spend more time at Starbucks, as it seems to be conducive to me getting writing done. Also my beta has vanished off the face of the earth. I'm kind of worried about her, I don't know what's going on. In the meantime. Does anyone want to read this monster? I don't need it checked for spelling and grammar (although, Open Office's suggestion for "Fuuuck" was "Beefcake," so maybe I do, as clearly Spellcheck is not to be trusted), really I just need to be reassured that it's not complete crap and/or full of unnecessary scenes written for my own amusement that don't actually further the plot.

Also, the other night I watched New York Minute. For two reasons:

1) I had never seen it.

2) Jared Padalecki is in it.

"Is it my birthday?" BWAHAHAHAHA JAREEEEDDD! And with the goatee. How is that so hot? But. I kind of. Enjoyed it. In a non-ironic way. I mean, I didn't buy the aww!sisters moments, but other than that? It was quite entertaining. *facepalm* WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!?

I posted a snippet from my BigBang fic here to get a couple of opinions on its suckage or lack thereof. If anyone on the flist is nosy or wants to help wrangle my flail...

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, my WC is at 12,882.

I can't believe I might actually get this monster done in time! [livejournal.com profile] huntersretreat, how goes it?

Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] thefulcrum. Went to the library in the hope of getting some work done on my BigBang fic, instead spent it diddling around with my layout and ripping CD's onto my laptop. Now for some reason VIRL's modem has decided to be a little bitch and I'm not able to connect to the 'net. I don't even need the 'net to write (see above, re: slackage), but I'm so irritated at it for not working that I can't concentrate to write. *bitching* There's actually a very limited number of things I can do if the librarian won't let me reset the router and/or modem (she won't). So this probably won't get posted until I get home. One of these days I may have to cave and get an internet connection of my very own, instead of just using whatever unsecured networks happen to be available. I don't seem to have the patience for that. *turns off whiny Kelly Clarkson CD and puts on Daft Punk* I need to get some actual work done. TTFN.

So I have ~7000 for my BigBang fic, Imprint, and a few random questions to ask the flist.

1. Do you know what a Cossack is?

2. Do you know what a Beefeater is?

It's relevant. Really. I don't want to include too many references in the story that no-one gets except me.

[livejournal.com profile] hunters_retreat, how goes the battle?

In the wake of Asshattery '09, (aka some bitch outed a girl on her flist to her friends and family) I just want to say to everyone on *MY* flist, uh, thanks for not sucking! Yeah. *hugs you all*

In other news, I have ~5000 on my BigBang fic, which is theoretically 1/4 finished. Which means I should theoretically be done by the end of April. Heh heh heh. Why do I have the feeling that I will spend the last week of May binging on Red Bull and glued to my computer plotting frantically, trying to get it done? Because it's me, and that's probably exactly the way it'll go.

[livejournal.com profile] hunters_retreat, I'm looking in your direction! Have you culled a plot bunny from the herd yet?

I am so stuck on my bigbang fic. I've managed like two sentences in the last two weeks. *rereads submission guidelines* I can change my mind? I may do that. Ep 3.12 left me wanting either crazy cracky antichrist!Sam fic or a schmoopy fluffy bunnies of lurrrve AU with the boys picking out china patterns. *will consider...*
Once again, my company is paying me to learn stuff I already know. Redundancy, thy name is T-Mobile. Web Corr FTW! \o/

Web Corr is like Customer Care except by e-mail. We are the only center that does online support for Customer Care. Because we are THAT awesome. And that's cool and all, teach me how to use the e-mail tool, go nuts, but I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO CHANGE A RATE PLAN. HONEST.

Today we learned about the different kinds of phones that we sell. Because I didn't learn that when I USED TO ACTIVATE THEM. Or back when I USED TO DO TECH SUPPORT FOR THEM. Apparently. *facepalm* Their logic bears no resemblance to actual logic.

Being paid to do nothing is not nearly as appealing as it sounds. On the flip side, now that my trainer completely ignores me because I know EVERYTHING, much work has been done on my super-seekrit BigBang fic.
I'm hoping posting these to the public will help me stick to them.
1. Learn needlepoint.
For serious. It's supposed to be very relaxing. And I need something to do with my hands while I'm at work. ETA: Have needles, thread, one of those hoopy things, and a lesson scheduled with Gramma Lil.
2. Study French.
I took French in elementary school. I used to be pretty good at it, too. I am from a bilingual country, and I should take advantage of the opportunity to piss off government workers by insisting they serve me in another language. Also, culture, broadening my horizons, blah blah whatever. ETA: Have acquired Berlitz course on CD.
3. Get a gym membership.
Notice I am not resolving to lose weight. Everyone makes that resolution. I am happy with my body, I have a healthy BMI, and I don't really care if I lose weight. However. Osteoperosis, arthritis and heart disease run in my family on both sides. The effects of all three are diminished by weight-lifting and regular exercise (low-impact for joint health). And it might be, y'know, fun. Maybe. ETA: Appointment with the Muse's personal trainer, who kinda scares me, so we'll see.
4. Participate in BigBang '08.
This is just cause it sounds like fun, even though I seem to be incapable of finishing fic. ETA: Signed up for BigBang, finished fic outline and first scene, acquired/adopted 2 betas who are NOT the Muse.
5. Write to all my family twice a month, by either e-mail or snail-mail.
Cause they're not gonna be around forever. And you gotta send mail to get it!ETA: I suck. For serious.

So, that's it. 5 Resolutions. Think I can do it?
